To Save a File to a Previous Version

  1. Select the File menu Save As.
  2. From the Save As Type drop-down list, choose an earlier version of 3ds Max.
    Note: You can save to formats as early as 3 versions prior to the current version. The screenshot below is only an example.
  3. Enter or navigate to and select a filename.
  4. Click Save.
