About Configuring Mechanical Structure (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

To use mechanical structure in a drawing, enable mechanical structure first.

If you use mechanical structure regularly, you can configure AutoCAD Mechanical toolset to enable mechanical structure automatically in any new drawing you create.

Note: You can only disable mechanical structure before you create any structure entities.

The other mechanical structure-related settings that you can configure are:

  • Mechanical browser defaults.

Associates commands with the New and Insert mechanical browser shortcut menus.

  • Default names for mechanical structure entities.

Sets default names for components, component views, folders, and annotation views.

  • Default behavior when you copy component views.

When you create component views in response to the COPY, ARRAY, MIRROR, or PASTECLIP commands, you can make them new instances of components or additional component views of the component from which they were original copied. You can opt to have the system prompt you when you issue the command.

  • Labels for subviews of Annotation views

The drafting standard controls the placement labels for subviews in Annotation Views. When you apply the master settings for text across all elements of the standard, the text size for annotation view labels change to one size larger than the master text height. The labels become larger than dimension, note, and symbol text.

The content for the annotation view label is defined with a formula. The label text can provide context-sensitive labels.
