Issue Templates in Field Management

Issue templates can reduce the time required to create a frequent issue on the job site. Templates can be used to automate the process to create an issue. Templates must include the following:

  • Title
  • Issue Type
  • Initial Status

Templates can also include the following:

  • Category
  • Assigned to
  • Due Date
  • Location
  • Location Details
  • Owner
  • Root Cause
  • Description
  • Custom Attributes
Note: Only custom attributes that are linked to issue types can be added to issue templates.

Categories

Categories can be created to group together similar issue templates. Categories can help filter or turn on and off the availability of a group of templates. Categories are not mandatory, issue templates not assigned to a category filter to the bottom of the list when organized by category.

Create categories

There are two ways to create categories in Field Management Issues Templates.

  1. Click Manage categories.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Type the category name.
  4. Click the check mark.

You can also create a category while creating a template.

  1. Click Create new template.
  2. Click Create new above the category drop-down list.
  3. Type the category name.
  4. Click Create.

Manage categories

Click the Manage categories button to make a category inactive with the toggle switch. An inactive category has the following traits:

  • Templates assigned to that category are not available to create issues.
  • The category can't be selected while making new templates.
Tip: You can't change a template to inactive or active if it belongs to an inactive category.

Create Issue Templates

  1. Click the Module Selector Field Management.
  2. Click the Issues tab.
  3. Click the Templates secondary tab.
  4. Click Create new template.
  5. Enter a title.
  6. Select an issue type using the drop-down list.
  7. Select an initial status using the drop-down list.
  8. Fill out any optional fields (previously listed), to automatically populate for users creating issues.
  9. Click Create.
Tip: You can use the Create another checkbox and the settings from the previous issue template are brought into the next template.

Issue Template List

You have the following options while working with the issue template list.

  • Use the Filter to bring up the filters.
  • Click the column headers to sort by columns.
  • Search for a title in the search box.
  • Use the toggle to activate or deactivate a template. Deactivating a template does not affect issues created from that template.

The more menu next to a template allows the following:

  • Edit the templates current settings.
  • Duplicate brings up the create a template dialog with the settings of the selected template already entered.
  • Change the settings of the active toggle.
  • Delete a template.
