Calculating duct sizes to optimize duct system designs for an HVAC system.

Step View more information
Review your duct system to ensure compliance with generally acceptable design practices. Verifying your system ensures that external analysis tools can analyze unorthodox systems or components. See Calculating Duct Sizes to Optimize Duct System Designs.
Assign ASHRAE identification numbers to all fittings if your external analysis tool requires it. Use the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) fitting types.
For duct system data to be eligible for export, ensure that the duct system adheres to various criteria. Review the list of criteria in considerations prior to exporting duct system data.
Export system information directly from the drawing in DDXML format. Export the duct system data.
Analyze the DDXML file using an external tool. Component sizes are calculated and written to the DDXML file. Then import the DDXML file into your drawing. Import optimized system data.
Resize your system based on the calculated results. Resize a system.
