Getting Started with Assets for Project Members
No matter what construction components you want to track, the Assets tool supports various workflows to help you create and manage them in Autodesk® Build.
As a project member with Create permissions (or a project administrator), explore the following options and select one to get up and running with the Assets tool:
Create assets from model objects and visually track them on the model: Import objects from a model into the Assets tool, and map properties in the model to asset attributes. Visualize the status of an asset directly on the model by its color.
Import from an Excel file: Fill out an Excel template with a list of assets and their attributes to create hundreds or thousands of assets at one time.
Note: If you want to track assets using barcodes, you can bulk import the barcodes (text or URL values) for the corresponding assets in the Excel file.Create assets on 2D sheets: Create markups on 2D sheets to represent assets and visualize the status of an asset directly on 2D sheets by its color.
Create assets individually: Create an asset and fill out information about the asset manually.
Note: If you want to track assets using barcodes or QR codes, you can enter the barcode (text or URL values) while creating the asset on web and on mobile. In the Autodesk Construction Cloud mobile app, you can scan barcodes and QR codes using your device's camera to assign them to an asset.
Project members need at least the basic View permission to view assets, or higher permissions to edit, create, and manage assets. See Asset Permissions to learn how to apply permissions. You may choose to do this before or after you create your assets. This can depend on if you already have an idea of how you want your team to interact with the assets you're going to track.
