AutoCAD Connector - Create and Update Data Exchanges
This topic details how you can create a Data Exchange using the AutoCAD Connector and update the Data Exchanges after making changes to the AutoCAD model.
Create a Data Exchange
Using this feature, you can create a Data Exchange of your AutoCAD model using the AutoCAD Connector and save it to Autodesk Docs. After creating the Data Exchange, it will be listed in the Connector interface to view or update later.
In the AutoCAD software, make sure you have saved all the changes to your AutoCAD model.
Click Data Exchange under the Collaborate tab.
Sign in to the Autodesk Construction Cloud using your Autodesk credentials.
After signing in successfully, return to the AutoCAD software.
The Connector interface opens. If a latest version of the Connector is available you will see a notification at the bottom of the interface .
To download the latest Connector version, click Help menu and select Check for Updates. You will be redirected you to the download link.
If you want to manually check for updates, click Help menu and select Check for Updates. You will be redirected to the download link or see a "no updates available" notification.
To create a Data Exchange, click Create Data Exchange.
Enter the following:
Name: Enter a name for the Data Exchange. (Default value - Assembly Name_Name of View)
Save to to: Select a folder in Autodesk Docs where you want to save your Data Exchange.
Filter By: Select the required option from the drop-down to create Data Exchange by By Layer, By Block, By Group, Selection, or Everything in Drawing.
If you selected By Layer, By Group, or By Block, select relevant input from the next drop-down.
Click Create Data Exchange. If there are unsaved changes to your AutoCAD model, save the changes in AutoCAD before you proceed to create a Data Exchange. Otherwise, you will be prompted to save your changes before the Data Exchange is created. You can enable the Auto-save function to automatically save your changes.
After the Data Exchange is created successfully, it will be listed in the Connector interface with details such as the name, version, date, and time.
Update a Data Exchange
You can update your Data Exchange with the latest changes that you made to the underlying model and its properties.
Make your changes to the AutoCAD model and save.
Click Data Exchange under the Collaborate tab.
Select the Data Exchange in the Connector interface.
Click the More menu and click Update from the drop-down list.
The Data Exchange will update with the latest changes (for example, V1 to V2).
