AutoCAD Connector - Install and Update

This topic includes the system requirements, prerequisites, install, uninstall, and update procedures.

System Requirements

Software

  • Operating System: 64-bit Microsoft® Windows® 11 or Windows 10 version 1809 or above.
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8 or higher.

Prerequisites

  • Download the relevant version of the AutoCAD software

    • AutoCAD 2023.1.4 or a later version of 2023 to integrate and use the AutoCAD 2023 Connector.
    • AutoCAD 2024 to integrate and use the AutoCAD 2024 Connector.

  • Download the Data Exchange - AutoCAD Connector installer from Autodesk App Store.

  • Make sure that you have an Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or trial License to access the Autodesk Docs projects on ACC.

  • Your Account Administrator must add you to at least one of the projects on ACC.

  • Make sure that you have the required permissions to the folder where you perform the following actions:

    • Creating Data Exchange: “View+Download+Publish+Upload” or higher.
    • Loading Data Exchange: “View+Download” or higher. For more information, see Folder Permissions.
Important: Data Exchanges in US and EMEA-based hubs are supported.

Install

This topic explains how to install the Data Exchange - AutoCAD Connector. Make sure that you read the System Requirements and Prerequisites sections and complete the required actions before installing the Connector.

Notes:

  • AutoCAD Connectors are compatible with Vanilla AutoCAD only.
  • Make sure you close the AutoCAD software before installing the Connector.
  • Before installing the new version of the Connector, uninstall the old version.

  1. Double-click the Data Exchange - AutoCAD Connector_x.x.x.exe** (for example, Data Exchange - AutoCAD Connector - 1.0.4.exe) installer package you have downloaded from Autodesk App Store.

    Note:

    • AutoCAD 2023 connector is compatible with AutoCAD 2023.1.4 or a later version of 2023 software.

    • AutoCAD 2024 connector is compatible with AutoCAD 2024 or a later version of AutoCAD 2024 software.

  2. The installation setup wizard appears, click Next.

  3. The Installation process will start.

  4. Once the installation is completed, click Finish to exit.

  5. The Data Exchange - AutoCAD connector will be added to your AutoCAD software.

Uninstall

This topic contains instructions on how to uninstall the Data Exchange – AutoCAD Connector.

Note: Make sure you close the AutoCAD software before uninstalling the Connector.
  1. In the Windows search bar, search and select Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Select Data Exchange – AutoCAD Connector from the list of programs.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. A dialog box appears requesting your confirmation, click Yes.
  6. After successful uninstallation, click OK.
Note:
  • Sometimes, after uninstalling the Connector, bundle packages are not removed. Therefore, it is necessary to delete them from the location "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins" before installing the new version.
  • Sometimes, after uninstalling the Connector, old cache files are also not deleted from the location. Therefore, you need to delete them from "C:\Users\Rohit Kumar\AppData\Roaming". At this location, you can find folders named "AutoCAD Connector_2023" or "AutoCAD Connector_2024".

Update

Download and install the required version by following the steps from the Install section
