How can I contact Autodesk Support?
You can reach us through the following communication channels:
Why cannot I see the Connector after installing it?
Make sure the Power BI software and the Connector are installed with the same user permissions, either standard user or administrator. This means they should run under the same account or have the same level of access rights.
Along with that make sure,
- Autodesk Data Connector for "Power BI.pqx" file is available at the path C:\Users<UserName>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors.

- Autodesk Data Connector for "Power BI.pbiviz" file is available at the path C:\Users<UserName>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Visuals.

My Power BI visual is not displaying any data. What could be the issue?
Make sure that all required columns from your dataset are assigned to the appropriate fields within the visual.
Why is object highlighting not working in viewer?
Object highlighting relies on accurate values in specific fields. Please verify that you have provided the correct Id values for the source models.
| Id, Values, and Model Id Field Value | Source Model |
|---|---|
| ExternalElementId | Data Exchanges |
Why is the Power BI visual not loading the model, even though I have filled out all the required fields?"
Active slicers or filters can sometimes impact the loading. Check for such active filters as shown in the following images and disable them.

Why is the Connector and Visual files are not visible at their respective locations after installation?
Typically, the Connector(.pqx) and Visual(.pbiviz) files are installed in your user directory in the following paths:
- .pqx C:\Users<UserName>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors
- .pbiviz C:\Users<UserName>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Visuals
For best results, log in to your computer as the user who will be using the Power BI connector before installing. This ensures the connector is installed in the correct location for that user. The installer might ask for administrator privileges during the process. Only provide them if prompted. If you run the installer as an administrator for a user without admin rights, the connector will be installed in the administrator's documents folder, not the intended user's folder.
What should I know if the source file is shared, saved as, or copied?
When a source file such as a Revit, Rhino, or Inventor is shared with others and saved under a new name, or copied to a different location or project, it can result in multiple file versions linked to the same exchange. This may lead to accidental updates from different versions, causing confusion and version conflicts. To prevent this, avoid updating an existing Data Exchange from any shared, renamed, or copied file. Instead, create a new Data Exchange when working with such files to ensure version clarity and avoid conflicts.
