Known Limitations

  • The Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Tekla cannot be installed if the relevant Tekla Structures host software is not already installed on the system.
  • Exchanges cannot be created for Rebar/Mesh reinforcement objects from Tekla Structures.
  • Exchanges cannot be created from loaded geometry in Tekla Structures. Exchanges can only be created when geometry is loaded using Individual Objects as an Item Option.
  • To address freezing issues with the connector interface when dealing with large models, the preview image option is disabled in the connector interface.
  • Tekla Structures assigns a single color for the entire body when reading exchanges with different face colors. Color assignment is inconsistent for similar elements.
  • When an exchange is created from a manually created 3D view in Tekla Structures (via 'Create View → 3D View'), only objects within that view are included. However, using predefined model views sometimes results in the entire model being exported. Workaround: Use object group view filters and permanently hide unwanted objects.
  • When an exchange is created from Tekla Structures that contains points, and those points are updated (moved), the connector creates new duplicate points at updated locations without deleting points from previous locations.
  • For exchanges loaded from Civil3D using the Individual Objects as Item option, geometry modifications are not reflected when loading the latest version in Tekla Structures. Users must unload and reload the exchanges.
  • For large exchanges that take more than 4 hours to create from Tekla Structures, ACC viewables are not generated. However, these exchanges are successfully created and can still be loaded later.
  • When using the Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Tekla on a cloud PC, you might face issues launching the connector. To resolve this, run the Tekla Structures host software as an administrator before starting the connector.
  • Exchanges loaded using the Single Reference Model option cannot be converted to native Tekla Structures objects in the current version. If you anticipate needing to convert exchange objects to native Tekla Structures elements, use the "Individual Objects as Items" option instead.
  • Clearing the logs folder after exchange creation prevents numbering updates from being tracked, causing exchange update failures for position number changes.
