Troubleshooting and Logs

01. Why cannot I see the Autodesk Docs project?

Contact your account administrator to make sure that connector for Autodesk Docs is enabled and that you have member access to the project and folders in Autodesk Docs.

02. Why am I having trouble installing Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Tekla?

If you are having trouble installing Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Tekla, check if you have an older version of the connector installed. If you do, uninstall it.

03. Why am I getting an error saying "A newer version is already installed" when trying to install the connector?

This error occurs when you install multiple Autodesk Data Exchange Connectors such as Tekla Structures, Rhino, and Revit on the same machine in the wrong order. The connectors must be installed in a specific sequence to avoid version conflicts. To resolve this issue:

  1. Uninstall any existing connectors from your machine.
  2. Install the connectors in the following order:
    1. Install Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Tekla.
    2. Install Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Revit.
    3. Install Autodesk Data Exchange Connector for Rhino.

Following this installation order will prevent version conflicts and ensure all connectors work properly together.

04. I'm experiencing connection errors or timeouts when using the Data Exchange Connector. What should I do?

Connection issues are often caused by corporate network security settings that perform SSL inspection on outgoing traffic. To resolve this:

  1. Contact your IT or network security team.
  2. Request them to exempt developer.api.autodesk.com from SSL inspection (add to bypass/allowlist.)
  3. Restart the host software and test the connector.

View Log Files

Log files contain information about operations that have taken place on the server and can be used to diagnose various problems. You can view log files to diagnose the failures or errors while using the connector and share them with the support team for further analysis. To locate the log files for specific versions, you can either navigate to the following directories or type the corresponding path in the Windows Search bar and press Enter.
