Create an Impact Assessment

Assess the impact of an incident on your customers and create scenarios to explore the impact of your mitigation actions.

To assess the impact of an incident on customers:

  1. On the incident's Timeline tab, click Create Activity and select Impact.
  2. Fill out the details,
    1. Event Time Water Loss: Enter the estimated water loss rate.
    2. Start Time: Select the date and time the incident began.
    3. Service Level Minimum Pressure: Enter the minimum pressure limit.
    4. Service Level Minimum Duration: Enter the minimum amount of time the pressure should be below the limit before qualifying as a service failure.
      Note: Default service levels can be set by a Project Admin in Admin General Settings.
    5. Incident Duration: Select the estimated amount of time you think this incident will last before it is resolved.
  3. Then click Create Impact.
  4. The Impact assessment will start running automatically and when complete, will show the number of customers affected.

To assess different mitigation scenarios:

  1. Once you have created the Impact, on the Impact tab, click Create Scenario.
    Note: You can duplicate, rename, or delete a scenario using the three dots icon .
  2. You will see a list of valves that you would need to shut down to isolate the pipe. To see the impact of closing different valves, you can click on the valves in the list and choose to:
    • Set the Target Status to Closed during a specific period of time.
    • Leave the valve Open.
    • Mark the valve as inoperable, which will find the next valve and add it to the list.
    • Add valves to the list or remove them.
  3. Once you have your desired configuration, click Run Scenario.
  4. For each scenario, you can see the number of impacted customers and the cumulative time for which customers are affected.
  5. You can also see a heat map for each impact scenario that shows the concentration of affected customers. Click on Interactive Results and press the play button to see how customers are affected over the course of the incident.
