About quantities

Quantities tools enable you to calculate, view, and generate reports for earthwork and materials quantities associated with one or more, selected component roads, sections of a component road (station ranges) and, areas of interest.

Using quantities settings dialogs, you specify which categories of quantities you want InfraWorks to include (or omit) from the next calculation of quantities values. The current settings remain in effect until you change them.

For example, when calculating earthwork quantities values for a selected road or roads, you can choose to include earthwork values for intersections and roundabouts or bridges, or exclude them from the calculations and report.

For material quantities, you can choose which categories to include from a list of the many types of materials. For example, you can choose to include or exclude 3D or parametric model items, such as people, cars, guardrails, bridges or bridge components, and so forth.

Each quantities tool consists of three elements:

  • Analysis hub controls (appearing on the Stack when you select a road).
  • Quantities settings dialog (panel)
  • Quantities report panel

For example, here are the earthwork quantities elements:

Click run earthwork quantities to run the quantities tool. Click Earthwork Quantities to display the Earth Quantities panel. Note that any bridge quantities are omitted from the total in this example. Click settings to display the settings dialog. Note that Include Bridge is turned off in this example.

Generate CSV Reports

Additionally, you can generate a CSV report for each component road included in a quantities calculation, and save the report(s) to the location of your choice.

Note: If the quantities calculation includes multiple roads, InfraWorks generates a separate CSV report for each road. This means that if two roads share an intersection, each CSV report will include the values associated with the intersection. Thus, if you add the total earthwork values as shown in each of two or more CSV reports, the grand total will be inaccurate because it will count the intersection values twice (or more times). Use the grand total value reported in the Earthwork Quantities panel. The value in the panel report counts shared intersections once only.
