Modifies image and procedural map properties.
Access
Edit a material, and click the image thumbnail to open the image in the Texture editor.

Use the Texture Editor to create high end materials. The property settings available for edit are based on the selected map type.
- Preview

The thumbnail preview reflects changes in map properties. You can enlarge or reduce the size of the preview area with the grip at the lower right of the preview space.
- Source

Specifies the name of the image to change. Displays an open file dialog box where you can navigate to and select a replacement image.
- Brightness

Works like a light shining on the image. Lower numbers to darken the image.
- Invert Image

Replaces the current map with its negative.
- Transforms

Controls the three standard transformations: position, scale, and repeat.
Link Texture Transforms
Propagates all changes to the Position, Scale, and Repeat settings of this attribute to all other attributes within the material that use a texture.
- Position

Controls the coordinates and rotation of the map.
- Offset Moves the starting point of the map along the X or Y axis.
- Link when active, ensures the ratio between vertical and horizontal is maintained.
- Rotation Rotates the map from 180 degrees to (-180) degrees. Rotation is not available for spherical and cylindrical mapping.
- Scale

Controls the scaling of the maps on materials.
- Sample Size Specifies the vertical or horizontal scaling for procedural maps on materials. This setting is only available on Checker, Gradient, and Tiles.
- Link when active, ensures the ratio between vertical and horizontal is maintained.
- Repeat

Controls the creation and modification of a map pattern.
- Horizontal Adjusts the tiling of the map along the X axis.
- Vertical Adjusts the tiling of the map along the Y axis.
Tile Tiles the map within the assigned area of the material.
None Specifies no modifications to the map pattern.
Visual styles and texture property edits
Shaded visual styles do not use all texture properties for display. When you edit an unused texture property, the canvas display does not change to show the modification. To see the change, switch to the Realistic visual style, and disable ray tracing. For more information about which properties display with Shaded visual styles, see Appearance Editor dialog box .
