Spread Sheet File Editor (What's New in 2025)

Learn about new option for setting your default spreadsheet editor.

A new drop-down box was added to the "General" tab of the "Application Options", allowing the specification of the default editor for opening spreadsheet files. If the "Spread Sheet File Editor" is set to an application that is not installed, a prompt dialog will be displayed.

If LibreOffice is installed on your system, you have the following three options available:

  • Automatic: Initially, Inventor searches for MS Excel. If it's not found, it then looks for LibreOffice.
  • Microsoft Excel: Inventor searches for MS Excel only.
  • LibreOffice: Inventor only looks for LibreOffice Inventor exclusively searches for LibreOffice.
Note: When changing the editor, it is necessary to close and reopen Inventor for the changes to take effect.
