The following are solutions to problems you may encounter when using Hair.
Hair simulation is slow when using NURBS Curves output
If you set the Output to NURBS Curves when creating hair, and you created a lot of hair, the simulation may be slow to initialize. The workaround is to set the Output to Paint Effects and NURBS Curves and hide the curves when running the simulation.
Undo does not work with Lock Length on
When using Lock Length on NURBS curves, Undo won’t work properly. The workaround is to move CVs slightly and then turn on Lock Length.
Unruly, jiggy hairs during playback
When you’re playing the hair simulation, if any hairs are unruly or won’t relax, you can do any of the following:
- First, try adjusting the Damp attribute in the Dynamic Properties section of the hairSystemShape in the Attribute Editor.
- Increase the Substeps value on the Nucleus node.
- Select the hair curve and in its follicleShape node, change Simulation Method to Passive. A passive curve interpolates behavior from neighboring active curves.
