Quickstart Fill analysis: Set processing conditions

In this step, the molding process settings are reviewed and the analysis is started.

  1. Click Process Settings (Home > Molding Process Setup > Process Settings) to see the process settings wizard. For this analysis, no changes are being made. Review the settings available, especially Advanced options > Solver parameters > Edit. A wide range of parameters are set from the relevant tab of this dialog. Click Cancel three times to exit the dialog.

  2. Click Generate Mesh (Mesh tab > Mesh panel > Generate Mesh). The Generate Mesh Tools panel opens.

  3. Select the CAD tab.

  4. Enter 2 into the Scale factor dialog box.

This makes the part mesh coarser than the default value. A coarser mesh takes a shorter time to analyse. As the initial analyses are used to establish the parameters that need to be investigated, the reduced accuracy of a coarser mesh is acceptable. The finer default mesh is recommended for fine tuning a result or validating a setup.

  5. Click Analyze (Home > Molding Process Setup > Analyze).

  6. Ensure a computer is selected. Typically the localhost is selected.

  7. Click Launch.

The CAD model is automatically meshed and the analysis is launched. The analysis will take about a minute to run.

  8. When the analysis is finished, de-select Logs from the Study Tasks pane.
