About smoke simulation

Inspect the result of the toolpath calculation in more detail regarding laser timing and laser-smoke interaction

By default, smoke simulation runs automatically as a background task as soon as hatching data is available in the exposure preview (e.g. after compiling the current project).

Toolpath Data Requirements for the Smoke Simulation

Laser parameter values for the toolpath data are required to run the smoke simulation. For an accurate simulation it is recommended that the toolpath data is based on the com.autodesk.powderbed-1.0.0 so that focus (mm), power (watt), speed (mm/s) and laser index (integer) are available for the toolpath elements.

If the toolpath data does not contain the necessary laser parameter values, then the default laser parameter values are used. The default laser parameter values can be set on the Smoke Simulation page in the project properties.

Fine-tune the Smoke Simulation

In addition to the Laser parameter values for the toolpath data, there are more settings available to fine-tune the smoke simulation. On the Smoke Simulation page in the project properties are settings for controlling e.g. the smoke, laser delays and the gas flow.
