Electrode summary spreadsheet

Select the Generate Summary Spreadsheet option to export a spreadsheet file containing the details of all the electrodes in the model.

When creating the last electrode or electrode copy:

  1. Select Generate Summary Spreadsheet from the Export Options page.
  2. Enter the path of the Directory to Export to or use Browse to locate the folder.
  3. When you click Finish two files are created in this directory:
  • electrode_summary.csv — This file contains all the details for all the electrodes and electrode copies.

The layout of this spreadsheet is controlled by the file named summary_template_csv.xml.

To configure the layout of this spreadsheet:

    1. Use a standard text editor to make the changes to the file. Detailed instructions on editing the template are included as part of the file.
    2. Save the updated file to your shareddb folder located in:

      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\shareddb

PowerShape uses this file to format the spreadsheet.

  • electrode_summary.html — This file contains Excel data that is invisible when the HTML file is displayed normally, but that can be read and understood by Microsoft Excel. Using this template enables you to enhance the appearance of the spreadsheet and means that the file can be viewed using any web browser.

View this file in one of the following ways:

    • Open electrode_summary.html with Excel. You can then edit, save, or print the formatted spreadsheet like any other Excel spreadsheet.
    • Double-click electrode_summary.html to open the file in your web browser. Because it is an HTML document, you can view it in a web browser without any need to have Microsoft Excel installed. This shows the data in an HTML table.
    • Note: You may get a warning when you open the spreadsheet that some content is in an unexpected location. This is caused by the images for the spreadsheet. Ignore the warning, and click Yes to include the images.

The layout of this spreadsheet is controlled by the file named summary_template_html.xml. You can configure this template in the same way as the .csv template file, using the same substitution strings. However, a large amount of extra information is held in the HTML, so it is more complex to configure.

There is an alternative template called summary_template_html_no_image.xml, which is a version of the standard template with the Autodesk images removed. To use the alternative template:

    1. Rename the existing file summary_template_html.xml to summary_template_html.xml.safe.
    2. Rename summary_template_html_no_image.xml as summary_template_html.xml.

All the template files are located in:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\PowerShapexxxxx\file\electrode

where xxxxx is the version number of PowerShape and C is the disk on which PowerShape is installed.
