Electrode types

The different types of electrode are displayed in the electrode tree and are illustrated by different icons.

The electrode types displayed in the tree are:

  • Standard electrodes.
  • Multi-Impression electrodes:

Electrodes with multiple burn-forms on a single blank are defined and grouped in the tree as Multi-Impression electrodes.

The number of burn-forms on an electrode is indicated by the dice icon in the tree. The example below shows an electrode with two burn-forms on a single blank

    — First burn form.

    — Second burn form.

When an electrode has more than six burn-forms the dice icon restarts at one, but has an overlaying subscript that represents the repeat number, for example the seventh burn-form shows .

    Note: A Multi-Impression electrode can have a maximum of 24 distinct burn-forms.

If a burn-form is used to burn more than one location, it appears more than once in the list. For example the Multi-Form electrode below has three burn-forms, where the third burn-form is used twice:

  • Multi-Family electrodes:

Multi-Family electrodes are Multi-Impression electrodes where the burn-forms are identical except for their undersizes.

You can define a Multi-Family electrode from a Multi-Impression electrode.

Multi-Family electrodes are displayed in the electrode tree:

The icons represent the undersizes of the burn-forms, which are displayed in brackets after the electrode name.

    — represents a roughing burn-form with a large undersize.

    — represents a semi-finishing burn-form, with a moderate undersize.

    — represents a finishing burn-form, with a small undersize.
