Custom Metrics
Create custom metrics to analyze your model data.
Creating custom metrics provides a way to analyze the data in your model, tailored to your specific needs. The following data is available for use in a custom metric:
- Factors
- Model Data
- Analysis Results
- Metrics
Use this data in formulas to create custom metrics for your analysis.
The list of available metrics is displayed on the left side of the dialog. Use the controls at the top to copy, rename, and delete metrics. Note: You cannot rename, delete, or edit the default metrics.
Create a Custom Metric
- From the Embodied Carbon Details dashboard, or a Custom Dashboard, select 'Metrics' from the 'Manage' dropdown list located in the upper right corner.
- In the Manage Metrics dialog, click the
icon.
- In the Metric Information section of the dialog, provide the following details:
Name
Unit Type
Description
Display Unit
Note: Name, Unit Type, and Display Unit are required fields.
- In the Formula section of the dialog, select necessary data points from the list. These selected points will then appear in the formula area.
- Use mathematical operators between data points to build the formula. Formula Example: The Metrics for 'Annual Operational Carbon' could be multiplied by the Factor 'Building Lifespan' to calculate the operational carbon used over the years in which the building is assumed to operate. On the custom dashboard, a dropdown card can be used to set the value for the 'Building Lifespan'.
Note: To remove a data point from the formula, click the 'X' to the right of the node title.
(Optional) Click 'Evaluate formula' near the bottom of the dialog to test your formula.
Note: Units in formulas are not automatically converted. Manually verify the formula and units are consistent.Click Add to create the Metric.
Edit Metrics
- Select a custom metric from the list.
- Click Edit.
- Make necessary adjustments to the Metric Information and Formula.
- Click Save.
