Change Element Types

Select an element to change its type.

Use the Type Selector to swap the family type assigned to one or more selected elements.

Note: Multiple element selections must be of the same category.

For example:

  • Walls: During schematic design, use generic walls to plan the layout. During design development, change the walls to specific types to provide more detailed information.
  • Text: To use a different font in text notes, swap the family type.
  • Symbols: Change the symbol used for elevations.

To change the family type assigned to elements

  1. Select one or more elements.
  2. On the Properties Palette, use the Type Selector to select the desired type. If the type is not listed, load the family first.

When you select a new type, all selected elements change to that type.

If you need to change parameters of the selected type, click Edit Type on the Properties palette.
