Comparing Sheets in the Takeoff Viewer
Visually compare sheets with takeoff and their quantities from your work in progress and snapshots within the same takeoff package. You can view either a side by side or overlay comparison in the Takeoff viewer. You can also see comparison data for quantities in the inventory for the sheets being compared.
Currently, only 2D sheets can be compared in the Takeoff viewer.
To Compare Sheets:
In the Takeoff viewer, select a sheet and click the Compare
icon at the top right of the page.
This will open Compare navigation bars along the top left of the page. Use these navigation bars to select two sheets to compare.
You can compare different versions of the same sheet (including sheets from available snapshots) or compare two entirely different sheets.
By default, the top navigation bar will show sheet information for the currently open sheet. The bottom navigation bar will show the previous version of the same sheet until you’ve made a different selection.
Use the bottom Compare navigation bar to change the other sheet to be compared. You can select by sheet name and version set, or select a snapshot to compare your work in progress takeoff with takeoff from a saved snapshot.
Once a selection is made, the second sheet will be loaded automatically and the two sheets will be compared.
The selected sheets will be displayed one on top of the other by default as an overlay.
- The first sheet listed in the top Compare navigation appears in the canvas as the top comparison layer. Top sheets are indicated in blue.
- The second sheet listed in the Compare navigation appears in the canvas as the bottom comparison layer. Bottom sheets are indicated in red.
You can also compare sheets side by side. Change this comparison by clicking the Overlay
icon in the Takeoff toolbar at the bottom of the canvas and selecting Side By Side in the menu.
When you have finished comparing sheets, leave compare mode by clicking the Exit Compare button at the top right of the screen.

Comparing Quantities in the Inventory
While you are comparing sheets, you can open the inventory to see differences in quantities between the compared sheets, as well as review quantities for the entire package's taken-off sheets and models.
In the inventory, takeoff quantities with a decrease between the compared quantities are indicated by light red rows, and increased takeoff quantities are indicated by light green rows. Rows with no change in quantity between the two sheets are not colored.
In the image above, the WIP (in blue) column shows quantities from the phase of the package indicated in the top compare navigation bar, and the CD 75% (in red) column refers to quantities from the package phase indicated in the bottom compare navigation bar. Another column, Diff, shows the calculated difference between quantities in the two phases.
