Create an Inventor Nesting template with the materials and packaging that you use regularly, so you do not have to recreate them each time you work on a new part. A good practice is to name the template after the cutting machine you intend to use.
Create a Template from an Existing Template
- In Inventor, click to open the Create New File dialog box.
- Under Nesting - Create a nest, select an
.inest file and click
Create.
The default template installed with Inventor Nesting is named Standard.inest.
- Define materials and packaging as you normally would.
- Click .
- Give the file an identifiable name and click Save.
Create a Template from an Existing Nest Document
- In Inventor, open a working INEST file.
- Delete all nest studies and geometry sources from the INEST file. (In the Nesting browser, right-click and delete.)
This leaves just the materials and packaging information in the file.
- Click .
- Give the file an identifiable name and click Save.
Open a Template
- In Inventor, click .
- Under Nesting - Create a nest, select the INEST template you want to use and click Create.
- Go to the Inventor Nesting tab.
- If necessary, click Inventor Nesting to enter the Inventor Nesting environment.
- On the TruNest ribbon, click Process Material Library and Packaging, respectively, to check that your defined materials and packages are listed.
