Add Files and Markups to Comments

Add DWF files and markups to change order comments.

Any routing participant can add files and markups to a comment. Only the Change Administrator or Responsible Engineer can attach and detach files and markups. A routing participant can attach files already attached to a change order or files in the vault to a comment.

When items are created from drawings or CAD files (.ipt, .iam, .idw), Vault Professional automatically creates a visualization file and associates it with the CAD file. When you choose to markup a CAD file, you are actually marking up the visualization file.

Markups can be added in one of the following ways:

  • A markup on the files tab can only be added by a change order requestor when creating or editing the change order.
  • Any routing participant can add a markup when adding a comment.
  • Any routing participant can create a new markup from a .dwf file already attached.
  • A markup file does not alter the original (base) markup.
Note: The file viewer option (Autodesk Viewer or Autodesk Design Review) selected under Configure Vault Options governs the markup behavior.
