Validation Tool Setup
In order for the Autodesk® Validation Tool to access your Revit models in Autodesk® Docs, someone with administrator privileges needs to perform this short setup. This configuration needs to be applied only once for each hub.
Overview
Enabling AVT for an individual user requires three provisions to be in place.
- The user needs to be added to a Docs project and have Document Management provisioned within that project.
- The user needs to have the AVT entitlement (Step 1 below)
- The hub needs to have the AVT service enabled (Steps 2-6 below)
While the instructions below are in the Autodesk Construction Cloud Admin sections, the connection will work for both BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud projects.
Step 1: Enable Service and Assign User Access
Make sure the Validation Tool service is enabled and users are assigned to use the service. Both of these steps can be done by the Account Administrator at manage.autodesk.com. This short video explains the steps.
Step 2: Open Account Admin
After logging into your Autodesk Construction Cloud account, use the menu to access your Account Administration settings.

Step 3: Access the Apps Section
Once you are in the Account Admin menu, select the Apps tab as shown in the figure below.

Step 4: Add the Validation Tool App
Select the Validation Tool icon from the list of Apps.

Then select Install as shown in the figure below.

Step 5: Authorize and Install the App
Selecting Install will open a dialog box prompting you to authorize Read and Write access to the Files tool in Autodesk Docs.

Step 6: Access the Validation Tool
Once activated, select open as shown below or go to avt.autodesk.com to begin checking models with the Autodesk® Validation Tool.
