Create a drawing template
Create and modify drawing templates that you and your team can use to ensure consistency when you create drawings in the Drawing workspace in Fusion.
Create a new drawing template
On the Application Bar, click File
, select New....The What do you want to design? dialog displays.
In the dialog, select Drawing
The right panel of the What do you want to design? dialog updates accordingly.
In the right panel of the dialog, select Template as the Type.
Click Create New.
The Create Drawing Template dialog displays.
In the Create Drawing Template dialog, select the desired options:
- From Scratch: Start with the default ISO or ASME template that ships with Fusion.
- Existing Template: Start with an existing drawing template in the current project.
- Existing Drawing: Start with an existing drawing in the current project.
- Browse: Start with an existing drawing template or drawing in a different project.
Select the Standard:
- ASME
- ISO
Select the Units:
- in (inches)
- mm (millimeters)
Select the Sheet Size.
Click OK.
The Template contextual environment opens.
(Optional) Place a base view placeholder.
On the toolbar, select Create > Base View Placeholder.
Click anywhere on the current sheet to place the base view placeholder.
Adjust the settings in the Placeholder View dialog, then click OK.
(Optional) Configure your drawing template:
- In the browser, adjust the document settings.
- In the browser, adjust the sheet settings.
- Select the title block geometry, right-click, then click Edit Title Block to customize the title block and its attributes.
- Select the border, right-click, then click Edit Border to edit the border.
- From the toolbar, click to create:
- Additional base view placeholders
- Projected view placeholders
- Text
- Images
- Table placeholders
- In the Sheet Bar, click the
+button to add more sheets.
Click File > Save
to save the drawing template.Type a name and specify a location to save the drawing template.
Click Save.
The drawing template is saved and you can navigate to it in the Data Panel.
You can now use the drawing template as a foundation when you create a new drawing.
