Polygons in sketches

The polygon tools in the Sketch > Create panel let you create different types of polygons as sketch geometry or construction geometry in an active sketch in Fusion.

You can use the following tools to create polygons in an active sketch:

  • Circumscribed Polygon circumscribed polygon icon
  • Inscribed Polygon inscribed polygon icon
  • Edge Polygon edge polygon icon
Note: Before you can create sketch geometry, you must use the Create Sketch tool create sketch icon to create a new sketch or right-click an existing sketch and select Edit Sketch to enter the Sketch contextual environment.

Circumscribed Polygon

The Circumscribed Polygon tool creates a polygon defined by the center point and the midpoint of one edge.

You click to place the center point of the polygon, specify the number of sides, then click to place the midpoint of an edge. Alternatively, you can specify a distance, then click to place a point.

Inscribed Polygon

The Inscribed Polygon tool creates a polygon define by the center point and a vertex.

You click to place the center point of the polygon, specify the number of sides, then click to place a vertex point. Alternatively, you can specify a distance, then click to place a point.

Edge Polygon

The Edge Polygon tool creates a polygon defined by a single edge and the position of the polygon.

You click to place the start point and end point of one edge. Alternatively, you can place the start point, then specify the distance and angle. You specify the number of sides, then click to place a point to define the orientation of the polygon.
