Comparing simulation results
The power of simulation is that you can gain insight into how a design might perform for its intended role, and pre-emptively find problems so you can adjust the design. The Compare tools are activated when a study has been solved and results are available, and enable you to inspect results from different studies within the active project.
The following are examples of when you might want to compare results:
- Check design performance after changing the geometry.
- Compare different study setup conditions to determine how a design might perform.
- Compare buckling and structural stress analyses, which should both be run on the same analysis.
- A mesh sensitivity study. Validate that your results are not changing due to the mesh.
- Observe the response of the design to different loads or constraints.
The Compare tab contains the following tools:
Synchronize
All of the view windows change with the active window.
Synchronize Camera locks the model navigation between the different views.
Synchronize Result Type changes the result variable in all views (if available).
Note: Comparing different study types such as thermal and structural can provide good information but you won't be able to Synchronize Result Type.Synchronize Min/Max sets the default legend settings to be the same, when the legend is modified in the active view it does not modify the other views.
Layouts
Alters the number and layout of View windows.
Additional tools available for the studies with the standard viewer
Animate
All of the animation capabilities are available for the active view window.
Options
Enable you to modify the Legend Controls and Legend Min/Max of the active view.
Mesh Display
Toggles the mesh on the active view.
