Working with Navisworks
What should I expect when using Navisworks with Desktop Connector 16.x?
- When managing an NWF file with Desktop Connector, opening the NWF in Navisworks will not automatically lock the file. While Desktop Connector 16.x now provides file Conflict Management, you should lock the NWF from the web before making changes.
- When adding design files (for example, .RVT) into Navisworks, Desktop Connector may lock the design file while the NWC file is created. Once the NWC creation is complete the design file lock is released.
- Users who open a locked NWD (Read-Only) file can still fully use the Navisworks Coordination Issues add-on.
- While Desktop Connector supports uploading and syncing Navisworks files, it does not manage their file references. If you would like to connect references using absolute paths, refer to our help article Change Workspace as an Individual User for guidance.
Supported workflows using Navisworks and Desktop Connector
- For BIM 360 issues using Navisworks (NWD) files see Work with Shared Views in BIM 360.
- For Model Coordination using Navisworks (NWD) files see Navisworks Coordination Issues Add-In.
Workflows when using Desktop Connector V16.x
- Desktop Connector versions 16.0 and 16.1 do not support Navisworks.
- Desktop Connector version 16.2 and above is compatible with Navisworks, with some extra steps needed depending on the workflow. Refer to What should I expect when using Navisworks with Desktop Connector 16.x.
