Data Views on the Ribbon

Once you have opened a file in Reference Explorer, you can choose to display the reference data in different views. You can select List, Tree, or Graph.

List View

Visualize the data set in a flat list view with the following column attributes:

  • Name: The file or display name with file extension

  • Directory: The full path to the local file location either inside or outside the connector.

  • # of References: The number of files referenced by files added to Reference Explorer

  • Status:

    • Empty: No issues were found
    • Missing: The file in the displayed location could not be found

Tree View

  • Visualize the data set in a hierarchical tree view to clearly see the relationship structure
  • Items in red text indicate a file is missing from the specified location

Graph View

  • Visualize the data set in a graphical display

  • The following Graph Layouts are provided:

    • Hierarchal: This is a top down view of file relationships and is the default view
    • Organic: This is a random and best fit organization of the relationships
    • Orthogonal: This view offers a Perpendicular representation of file relationships
    • Circular: This is a Circular view of file relationships
  • Pan by depressing and holding the left mouse button while moving

  • Zoom in and out by scrolling the mouse wheel

  • Hover over any of the file names to receive a tooltip containing the full path to the file

  • If the file is not found in that location, it will appear with a red box and red text.

  • Hover over any dotted arrow to identify the presence of a circular relationship

  • Export the graph view as a PNG file for sharing.
