Apply a prescribed translation constraint
These steps assume you are setting up an Event Simulation study in the Simulation workspace.
Click
(Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Constraints panel > Prescribed Translation).
Select at least one Face or Body from the display.
Choose the Constraint Type from the drop-down menu. Available options are:
Displacement - Translates the selected object type.
Note: Displacement is the only option for Quasi-static analyses.Velocity - Applies a constant speed and direction to the selected object type.
Acceleration - Applies an acceleration to the selected object type.
Select the Direction Type.
- Components allows you to apply a unique value to each of the X, Y, and Z components.
- Reference allows you to select a geometric entity to define the constraint vector.
Input the Magnitude of the constraint.
Click the
Multiplier Curve icon to supply a transient based prescribed translation. This allows you to adjust the constraint as the analysis progresses.
