Add a structural constraint

Constraints are applied to a model to prevent it from moving in response to applied loads.

  1. Click constraint icon (Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Constraints panel > Structural Constraints) to open the Structural Constraints dialog.

  2. Select a constraint Type from the drop-down list in the Structural Constraints dialog.

  3. Select faces, edges, or vertices where you want the constraint applied. The constraint is applied at a node that is created at the centroid of the selected entity.

Note: You can apply constraints to multiple faces, multiple edges, or multiple vertices, but you cannot mix entity types in a single constraint application.
Note: To set a constraint at the centroid of each of several entities, add multiple constraints and select one entity for each constraint.
  4. Click OK to accept the changes and close the dialog.
