Publishing dialog box - General tab

The Design Web Format (DWF) is a compressed, secure format used to publish CAD data. Using the Design Review, you can present an accurate visual representation of Autodesk Inventor assembly and part files, weldments, sheet metal parts, presentations, and drawings. Published representations are used to share information with customers, vendors, marketing, and others who do not have Autodesk Inventor installed.

Access:

Click Export Export to DWF.

The General tab is available for all publishing environments and contains options that are relevant to all publishing modes, including Basic and Complete.

Enable Measure

Clear the check box to disable DWF measure capability.

Enable Printing

Clear the check box to disable DWF printing capability.

Enable Markups

Clear the checkbox to disable the ability in the DWF file to place 2D markups, or to open Autodesk Inventor 3D model and place 3D markups in the DWF file.

Note: This option is available only when you publish one or more sheets or a 3D model. Autodesk Inventor only reads 2D sheet markups when loading DWF or DWFx markups.

Allow Editing and Deletion of Markups

Click the check box to allow all users to edit and delete markups.

Note: Available only if you select Enable Markups option.

Memory Saving Mode

Select the check box to gain additional publishing capacity when publishing large assemblies.

Note: This option is only available for Assemblies using the Express Option. Selecting this option can increase the publish time.

Password Protection

The drop-down list includes three options for password protection:

Disable

Password text box is disabled. The DWF file is not password protected.

Prompt for password

Password text box is disabled. When you click Publish, the DWF Passworddialog box opens where you set the password for the DWF file. Each time you publish a file, you are prompted for password.

Use this option to set a different password each time.

Specify password

Password text box is enabled to enter the password to apply to the DWF file. If you specify a password, the same password is used and you are not prompted to enter it when you publish.

DWF passwords are case sensitive. The password or phrase can include letters, numbers, punctuation, or non-ASCII characters.

Confirm Password Re-enter the password to ensure that you have entered the same one as previously.

Default Output location of DWF file

Specifies the output folder location where Design Web Format (DWF) and plot files are saved. The drop-down list saves up to the last three file locations used.

Click to display the Browse For Folder dialog box where you can select the appropriate folder. In the Publish Document dialog box, the specified folder is automatically opened.

Create 2D Snapshot

Select the check box to publish the current view of a part, assembly, or presentation file (*.ipt, *.iam, *.ipn) as a 2D DWF.

Note: This option is only available using the Express Option. Enabling Create 2D Snapshot disables the Memory Saving Mode option.

Display Published File in Viewer

Select the check box to open the published file immediately in the Design Review.
