Learn a basic CAD model creation workflow using the Autodesk Inventor Fusion solid modeling product. This desktop application is available as an added benefit for customers with a current service subscription and a Simulation Mechanical 2015 license. The resulting circuit board assembly will be used in the Mesh Circuit Board CAD Model tutorial.
If you choose not to install Fusion, a completed CAD model is included within the tutorial model datasets archive. This model can be used as the input file for the subsequent meshing tutorial.
Alternatively, you could try to build an identical model in a different CAD package, using the commands and workflows appropriate for that program. In this case, output the model as any of the universal or proprietary CAD formats supported by Simulation Mechanical. When instructed to open a Fusion (*.dwg) file, simply substitute the appropriate file type choice (see one of the following two pages for more information):
