Place Shear Studs along Steel Elements

Sketch rectangular or circular shear stud patterns to place shear stud on a structural element in 3D or plan views.

To place shear studs

1. Click Steel tab Fabrication Elements panel (Shear Studs).
2. In the drawing area, select the steel elements to connect.
   Note: Use Ctrl + click to select multiple elements.
3. Select the element face to which the pattern will be perpendicular.
4. Click Modify | Create Shear Stud tab Draw panel and select either:
   • (Rectangle) or
   • (Circle)
5. Sketch the shape of the shear stud pattern on the element face.
   
6. Click Modify | Create Shear Stud tab Mode panel (Finish Edit Mode).
   
   The shear studs are created perpendicular to the selected face of the element, in the current work plane and view, according to the sketched contour.

   Note: Shear studs are only visible when the Detail Level of the view is set to Fine.
