To create a CNC Surface Group

CNC Surface groups enable you to measure surfaces by following a probe path.

Note: CNC Surface groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.

To create the probe path for a CNC Surface group:

  1. In the Features tab, deselect the Generate Probe Path button.
  2. Click Hometab > Create panel > Form > CNC Surface Group. An inspection group is added to the inspection sequence and the Surface Inspect dialog is displayed in the Features tab.
  3. In the Surface Inspect dialog, select the probing method with which you want to generate the probe path.
  4. Specify the points you want to probe. If you selected:
    • the AutoTouchTrigger probing methods ofRasteror SelectedSurface, click the Parameters button, and then enter the probe path settings.
    • another probing method, double-click on the model to specify the location of the probe points. When you select a UserDefined probing method, PowerInspect adds guided surface points to the inspection sequence as you specify the points on the model. This enables you to measure the same point in each Measure of a document.
  5. Complete the parameters in the Surface Inspect dialog, and then click to create the group. You can now run the item as part of the inspection sequence.

To view and update the group settings, right-click the group in the inspection sequence, and then select Modify item from the context menu.
