To create inspection points from dynamic points

When you have created dynamic points and positioned them on the model, you can use the points to create and extend inspection groups in the inspection sequence. The method used to create the inspection points depends on the type of dynamic points you select:

To create surface points from dynamic points:

1. Click Home tab > Mouse Context panel > Dynamic Points Editor. The Dynamic Points tab is displayed.
2. Create and select the dynamic points.
3. Click Dynamic Points tab > Items panel > Inspection Points. PowerInspect creates guided surface points from the dynamic points and adds them to a new:
   • CNC surface points group, if probe path generation is enabled.
   • guided surface points group, if probe path generation is disabled.
   Note: CNC groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.

To create edge points from dynamic points:

1. Click Home tab > Mouse Context panel > Dynamic Points Editor. The Dynamic Points tab is displayed.
2. Create and select the dynamic points from which you want to create an inspection group.
3. Click Dynamic Points tab > Edit panel > Switch Type to convert the selected points to edge points.
4. Click Dynamic Points tab > Items panel > Inspection Points. PowerInspect creates guided edge points from the dynamic points and adds them to a new:
   • CNC edge points group, if probe path generation is enabled.
   • guided edge points group, if probe path generation is disabled.
   Note: CNC groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.

To add dynamic points to an inspection group:

1. Click Home tab > Mouse Context panel > Dynamic Points Editor. The Dynamic Points tab is displayed.
2. Create and select the dynamic points.
3. Convert the points to the same type as the target group. PowerInspect ignores any points that are not of the same type as the target group. For example, you cannot paste surface points into a guided edge points group.
4. Click Home tab > Edit panel > Copy to copy the selected points to the clipboard.
5. In the inspection sequence, open the inspection group to which you want to add the selected points.
6. Click Home tab > Edit panel > Paste, to add the points to the group.

Note: To rename points in an inspection group, open the inspection group dialog, edit the Point Names, and select the Update existing points check box.
