The overall process for installing a new machine involves completing the following tasks:
Prepare for Installing a New Machine
Before installing a new machine, make sure you read and understand Before Installing a Machine.
Install a New Machine
The following steps describe how to install a new machine that does not require installing customized NC. This procedure involves using the "New" button on the Installed machines dialog.
For step-by-step information on how to install a machine that does utilize custom NC (referred to as a "custom NC machine"), see Installing a Custom NC Machine. For more information about installing a new machine, and installing one that uses customized NC, see "New vs Custom NC Machines" in Before Installing a Machine.
To install a new machine on ESTmep or CAMduct:
You will be making a copy of this machine configuration to use as a starting point, and then editing it. It can save time if you choose a machine that is similar to the new one you want to install.
The following prompt displays: "Copy new machine parameters from 'selected machine'?"
The Machine Editor dialog displays. At this point, the new machine is created. The next step is to edit the default machine name.
Now that the installed machine is created, and has an appropriate name associated with it, the next step is to set up the machine.
Setup a New Machine
Setting up a new machine involves configuring the options on the various tabs on the Machine Editor dialog. For more information, see Setting Up a Machine.
Add Tools to a New Machine
After setting up the installed machine by configuring the tabs on the Machine Editor dialog, the next step is to add the required tools that are associated with the new machine. Do this from the Installed Machines dialog. See Add Tools to a Machine for more information.
Configure Tools on a New Machine
Once you have finished adding one or more tools to the new machine, the next step is to configure the tool behavior using the Edit Tools dialog. This dialog is available from the Installed Machines dialog. See Configure Tools on a Machine for more information.
