Stock Material Library

The Stock Material Library is a centralized repository where you can create and manage the stock materials used in your manufacturing workflows. Each stock material has a name and type, and can also include keywords, alternate names, physical materials, and hardness information to improve searching, matching, and organization.

When you select a stock material in a Setup, Fusion groups the matching tool presets to make it easier to find suitable tools for the selected stock. Stock materials can also be associated with one or more physical materials, allowing related materials to share the same tooling recommendations.

The Stock Material Library is divided into five areas:

  1. Stock material libraries

  2. Manage stock materials

  3. Browse stock materials

  4. Filter stock materials

  5. View stock material information

How stock materials are used

Stock materials help organize tool presets for manufacturing operations. When you assign a stock material to a Setup, Fusion groups the tool presets associated with that material. This reduces the number of tool presets you need to browse and helps you select tools that are appropriate for the stock being machined.

A stock material can be associated with multiple physical materials. For example, a single Stainless Steel stock material can represent several stainless steel grades while sharing the same tooling recommendations.

Note: A stock material is not a physical material. Instead, it can be associated with one or more physical materials.
