View a BOM by Date

You can view a BOM configuration as of a specific date, past or future, as well as for a particular revision.

1. On the Bill of Material tab, click View Settings.
2. In the As of field, enter a date or select a date from the calendar.
3. Click OK.

The BOM displayed reflects the view as of the date and configuration selected in View Settings. The view is summarized in the view description above the BOM.

If the selected date is outside of the effectivity range, the system identifies the revision that is or was in effect on that date and reconfigures the BOM accordingly.

When a date is not specified, the date is implied and calculated using the closest date to today for which the selected revision was in effect, is in effect, or will be in effect.

Select a date outside of the effectivity range when:

• A BOM child item is released after the parent assembly was released.
• You want to see what the BOM looked like at a time before the latest revision of the assembly was released or put into effect.
• Procurement wants to find out what parts to order now for the manufacturing run in three weeks.
• The Warranty group wants to find out what parts where used in the manufacturing process for a specific serial number.
