Generate Wind Loads

  1. Click Loads Wind and Snow Wind Simulation.

    The Wind simulation dialog displays.

  2. Ensure that you are on the General tab of the Wind simulation dialog.
  3. Select at least one direction for the wind in the Wind direction group.
Note: If you select more than one direction for the wind, load cases will be created for each of the selected directions.
  4. In the Wind parameters group, select if you want to specify the wind intensity by its velocity or by its pressure, and then enter a value for the selected parameter.
Tip: If the wind doesn't have a uniform velocity, you can create a wind profile in the Wind Profile tab of the dialog.
  5. Enter the ground level in the Terrain level box.
  6. Specify the elements for which you want to launch a wind simulation in the Wind exposure group.
    • Click inside the Elements box, and then select the elements in the drawing area, or click All to select them all.
    • Leave the Openings in panel closed for the wind flow option selected, unless you want to allow the wind to flow through the model.
  7. In the Loads generation group, specify if you want to generate the wind loads manually or automatically.
    • Select Automatic, and then enter the loads deviation factor, i.e. the factor below which the simulation will generate wind loads.
    • Select Manual to decide when to stop the simulation and generate the wind loads.
  8. Click Start.

The Wind simulation dialog updates to display the simulation progress.

Tip: You can stop the simulation and generate the wind loads at the moment of your choice. To do this, click Generate loads now in the Wind simulation dialog.

When the simulation is over, a message is displayed with the list of wind load cases that were generated.

Note: To display the pressure map after the simulation, click Load Symbols in the Status bar:
