USD for 3ds Max 0.12 Release Notes
Release Highlights
Duplicate to USD. You can now send objects from the 3ds Max scene into a USD stage using Duplicate as USD data. Combined with the previously released Promote to 3ds Max, this helps streamline the workflow between 3ds Max and USD.

Known limitations
In versions of 3ds Max earlier than 2025, the Duplicate to USD context menu is only available in the USD Explorer. It is not accessible from the Viewport or Scene Explorer. |
The Promote to 3ds Max feature doesn't translate materials. To render these objects with proper shading, you will need to assign a 3ds Max material; otherwise, only the wireframe color will be visible. |
