Best Practices: Define Clash Settings

When turned on for a coordination space, clash detection runs automatically against model changes, providing ongoing visibility into constructability issues before they become bigger problems in the field. Model Coordination facilitates proactive engagement from multidisciplinary teams through simple automation, improving model quality and reducing rework and waste during construction.

Model on/off for clash

Models in the supported file formats are turned on for clash by default unless disabled for the coordination space. You can choose which models you want to turn off, and you can turn on any models you've previously turned off.

For details, see Turn Models Off for Clash.

Model object exclusions

You can exclude objects which don’t need clashing, objects which are less of a priority, or objects which are duplicated across multiple models to reduce the number of clashes and improve clash performance. You can also use exclusions as a form of prioritization.

In the following example, MEP objects such as flex ducts, electrical fixtures, and electrical data devices are excluded.

Exclusions

For details, see Exclude Model Objects From Clash.
