Approval Workflow Email Notifications

The table below identifies the actions within an approval workflow process that generate email notifications for members. As a general rule of thumb, members aren't notified for actions performed by themselves. Additionally, only members who participate in the approval workflow process receive system notifications. Members who receive notifications sent from other participants in the review process won't receive system notifications for the various actions in the approval workflow process.

Note: The table assumes there is no overlap between roles. For example, the initiator is different from the reviewer or approver in the same workflow.

The roles in the table are defined as follows:

  • Reviewer of previous steps: Reviewer for the review step(s) before the current step.
  • Reviewer of current step: Reviewer of the active step which is not the final step.
  • Approver of final step: Approver for the final review step.
