Color management can be enabled or disabled per scene.
- Open the Preferences window.
- Select the Color Management category on the left.
- Toggle Enable Color Management.
The color management settings are stored in the scene. However, they may get overwritten when the scene is re-opened if you are using an OCIO configuration file or a color management policy.
Note that activating color management automatically enables Floating Point Render Target for Viewport 2.0. You can change these settings if you experience performance problems with older graphics cards, but then you may see color clipping, banding, and other artifacts in the viewport. In addition, using the Eyedropper tool to pick colors in the viewport may result in incorrect color values.
If you are enabling color management, you might need to make some other settings:
- To choose a rendering space, see here.
- To choose a default view transform, see here.
- To define rules for assigning color spaces to textures and other input images, see here.
- If you are enabling color management for an existing scene that already has materials, lights, and other color elements, see here.
- For information about some other display and rendering settings you may need to make, see here.
