Working with the platform overview

Get a summary of the parts loaded on the current platform

The platform overview lists all parts in the project with a selection of statistics.

To open the platform overview

  1. From the main menu, choose Analyze > Platform Overview.
Tip: To restrict the overview to a selection of parts, select these parts first before opening the platform overview, then tick Only selected parts.

To export the overview data to CSV

  1. With the platform overview opened, click Export data.
  2. In the opening Save file as dialog, specify a file name, and click Save.

Platform overview reference

The platform overview lists these properties:

Per-part properties

Part

Name of the part as it appears in the project tree

ID

Parts in the project receive a running number.

Status

Is the part's mesh surface closed and oriented?

Length

Width

Height

Dimensions of this part along the cardinal axes X, Y, and Z, and in this order

Volume

Positive when all of the part's surface mesh is fully oriented so that triangle antinormals point towards solid material, negative when they point away, and invalid when the mesh has holes. Note that this includes fully closed cavities in the calculation, so while a hollow part may have the same outer volume than a fully solid one, it has a smaller one in this display.

Area

Surface area of this part including all of its shells, intersecting, enclosed, or otherwise

Triangles

Edges

Points

Total counts of triangles, triangle edges, and common vertices count of this part

Numbers vary in their relative counts as points can be shared by few and many triangles alike.

Part summary

Minimum

Maximum

Size

The lowest point, the highest point, and the size of a cuboid space enclosing all parts present (and selected, if any, depending on the switch Calculate all parts/Only selected parts) along the cardinal axes

Per-platform properties

Platform size

Dimensions of the current platform's buildroom along the cardinal axes

Volume

Total volume occupied by all or selected parts

Note: This only counts parts fully inside the buildroom.

Area

Total surface area by all or selected parts

Packing density

Volume fraction occupied by parts compared to total buildroom volume

With object height

Volume fraction occupied by parts compared to buildroom X and Y but topmost Z actually reached by any part. Provides a more practical packing density value.

The CSV export additionally contains the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the parts' bounding box origin (the left-front-bottom corner).
