To select CAD models for the inspection document

Specify the models you want to use and the default settings for the inspection.

The CAD page of the New Document wizard is displayed when creating an inspection that includes one or more CAD models.

  1. Click New.
  2. In the Open dialog, choose the model files you want to work with. If you selected:
    • Measurement with a single CAD Part, select the file in the dialog and click Open.
    • Measurement with multiple CAD Parts, press and hold the Ctrl key, select each file you want to use, and click Open.

The counter shows the number of models you selected. Click the Next and Previous buttons to cycle through them.

  3. To orientate the model to match the position of the part, click Details. Options are described in CAD Details dialog option reference.
  4. Select the AutoPosition box to centre the CAD model on the table of the simulator's measuring device.
Note: The AutoPosition box is available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.
  5. Enter the Surface points values for the document:
    • Surface offset specifies an offset from the nominals for surface inspections. This enables you to compensate for the thickness of the part.
    • Low Tolerance and High Tolerance values specify the default tolerance for surface points. Enter the minimum tolerance in the Low box and the maximum tolerance in the High box to specify the zone of acceptable deviations from the nominal. A positive value indicates that the surface of the part is above the surface of the model.
  6. Enter the Edge points values for the document:
    • Edge offset specifies an offset from the nominals for edge inspections. This enables you to compensate for the thickness of the part.
    • Low Tolerance and High Tolerance values specify the default tolerance for edge points. Enter the minimum tolerance in the Low box and the maximum tolerance in the High box to specify the zone of acceptable deviations from the nominal. A positive value means that the edge of the inspected part is thicker than the edge of the CAD model.
  7. In the Units list, select the unit of measurement for the inspection document.
  8. If you want to save these values as the default settings for future inspections, select Save parameters as default.
  9. Click Next to specify a report template for the document, or click Finish to create the document without specifying a template.
