Individual Stock Model menu

Use the individual Stock Model menu to manage and edit the selected stock material.

To display the menu, in the Explorer, right-click an individual stock model.

Activate — When selected, activates this stock model and de-activates any currently active stock model. When deselected, de-activates this stock model.

Settings — Select to display the Stock Model dialog where you can edit the currently active stock model parameters.

Draw — When selected, displays the stock model. Deselect to "hide" it. This option toggles between and .

Drawing Options — Options to determine how to display the stock model.

  • Wireframe — Select to draw the stock model as a wireframe.
  • Shaded — Select to draw a shaded stock model.
  • Show All Material — Select to display all stock material after applying the active stock model state operation.
  • Show Rest Material — Select to display the material remaining after applying the active stock model state operation. It is the difference between the active state of the stock and the model. This displays the material with a thickness greater than the Rest Thickness. This is useful to indicate where there is excess material especially on vertical faces where certain stepover values can leave extra material.
  • Show Removed Material — Select to display the material removed by applying the active stock model state operation. It is the difference between the stock remaining after the active state operation and the stock remaining after the previous state operation.

Refresh Rest Material — Select to refresh the displays of the rest material. This option is only required when you change the model, or the Rest thickness.

Rename — Select to rename the entity.

Volume — Select to display the volume of the active state of the stock model in an Information dialog.

  • State — the active state of the stock model.
  • Volume — volume of the stock model in the model units (in this case mm3).
Export — Select to display the Save Stock Model dialog which enables you to save the current active state of the stock model. Use the dialog to browse to the correct location and save the stock model as a *.stkmd file.
Note: This saves the current active state of a stock model into a new stock model as a single state.

Calculate — Select to calculate the stock model. By default, PowerMill creates a batch rest stock model which is calculated when you select this option.

Apply — Select to add a block, toolpath, or tool to the stock model.

Edit — Select to display the editing options.

  • Copy Stock Model — Select to create a copy of the active state of the stock model. This new stock model has the same name as the original with _1 added to it. This copies the current active state of a stock model into a new stock model as a single state.
  • Make Invalid — Select to remove all the calculations of the states and unlock the stock model.

Remove Triangulation — Select to remove the stock model triangulation from disc and so substantially reduces the size of the project.

If you do not select this option, PowerMill saves the stock model triangulation with the stock model to prevent recalculation.

Unlock Stock Model — Select to unlock the stock model for editing and overrides all locks on the stock model. This invalidates all references to the stock model.

Remove from Folder — Select to remove the stock model from the current folder.

Delete Stock Model — Select to delete the stock model.
