Reduction of forces to the center of gravity of a section

In an arbitrary section, you can reduce all forces originating in a section to a point (the center of gravity of all elements in the section). The coordinate system in which reduced forces are displayed is a system resulting from the definition of a cut: n axis - the normal to the cut plane, axes 1 and 2 are positioned in the cut plane.

The results of force reduction are displayed in the table for stories on the Reduced forces tab. This tab displays the following values:

  • Coordinates of the center of gravity of a section
  • Vector components (1, 2, and the normal one to the cut plane)
  • Values of reduced forces (forces N1 and N2 are in the section plane and the Nn force is a force normal to the section)
  • Values of reduced moments

In addition, the drawing displays the position of the center of gravity of the section O to which forces are reduced and the system of a cut with the axes 1, 2 and n.

Forces in a panel cut

  • Normal and shear (linear) forces and their reduction (to concentrated forces)
  • Bending and torsional moments

System of the cut plane

Forces:

  • In the cut plane (transversal) - Reduced forces in the cut of each element are projected on directions 1 and 2 of the cut system
  • Normal to the cut plane (longitudinal)
  • Moments
