Close or archive a project
When a project is considered finished, you may move it to a status of Closed or Archived to put it into a read-only state. The Closed and Archived states are functionally identical - in both cases, you may not create or modify BOM items, business processes, project management activities, or documents. The project workflow used to manage the project's lifecycle as configured by your Tenant Administrator determines whether the project may be re-opened after it has been closed or archived.
Before you begin
- This topic assumes that the workflow associated with your project includes Closed and Archived states. If your organization uses a customized workflow that omits the Closed and Archived states, then the project cannot be closed or archived.
- Only the team member on the project who matches the Assignee criteria configured in the workflow may change the project's state to Closed or Archived.
- A project may be returned to the Active state from its Closed or Archived states only if the project's workflow is configured to permit this action.
- Upchain's default project workflows enable projects to be closed or archived, and reopened from both of these states. The steps that follow assume that the project manager has selected the default workflow for the project.
Close or archive a project
An active project may be closed or archived at any time.
- Open the Project settings
page.
- In the Project Workflow section, click Close Project or Archive Project.
The project is now closed/archived and placed into a read-only state.
Reopen a closed or archived project
- Open the Project settings
page.
- In the Project Workflow section, click Reopen Project.
Note: Click Finish Workflow to end the workflow and permanently lock the project into a read-only state.
